Faculty Recital
Saturday, November 7, 2026 • 7:30 PM
Experience the luminous sound world of the French Baroque in a historically informed performance of François Couperin’s Leçons de ténèbres.
Written for the solemn Holy Week service of Tenebrae, Couperin’s Leçons are among the most exquisite works of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century sacred vocal repertoire, uniting expressive ornamentation, complex layered harmony, and meditative reflection on the Lamentations of Jeremiah.
Sopranos Stefanie Moore and Natalie Buickians are joined by Baroque pedagogue and viola da gamba player Marylin Winkle and organist-composer Zachery Neufeld for an evening devoted to the drama of the Lamentations of Jeremiah through the ornate expression of the French Baroque.
