Young Guitarist Competition

Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts

The Young Guitarist Competition, held in conjunction with the Parkening International Guitar Competition, helps to identify outstanding young guitarists and encourages them to continue their performance careers and study. 

Applicants for the Young Guitarist Competition must be 17 years of age or younger at the time of the competition. You must have been born on or after May 30, 2001.

Applications for the 2019 Parkening International Guitar Competition will be accepted beginning November 30, 2018, with an application deadline of February 6, 2019.

Audition Repertoire for the Young Guitarist Competition


ALONSO MUDARRA: FANTASIA #10 (Parkening arrangement in Solo Pieces published by Hal Leonard)

FERNANDO SOR: VARIATIONS ON A THEME OF MOZART (Segovia edition) – The competitor should skip (omit) the "B" repeat as recorded by Christopher Parkening
